How to Update a License After a New Release

Golden Software periodically releases new versions of the software products. One benefit of the software maintenance is access to the newest features and improvements. The concurrent-use license must be updated on the license server to allow client PCs to run the latest software.

You can receive notifications for Golden Software releases by signing in to My Account and registering your software.

Updating the license Max version

The following steps demonstrate how to update your license after receiving a notification that a new version has been released.

  1. Open the License Administrator.
  2. Click the Manage tab to view the Manage page.
  3. In the Manage installed licenses table, click the Feature license for the product you wish to update.
  4. Make a note of the Max version value in the License details table.
  5. Click the Update selected license command button.

The selected license will be updated and the Max version value will increase to the current version of the software. Now client PCs will be able to run the latest version and use seats from the license server.

Client PCs that connect to your server may receive a program update notification that a new version is available, but they will not be able to perform the update until after the concurrent-use license is updated on the server.

Upgrading client PC software

You must update the license max version with the License Administrator before the end users can upgrade with the Check for Update command. End users can upgrade to the latest version by clicking the Check for Update command in the application.

If you do not want users to be notified of new software version releases, see the Apply custom license and deployment settings to client computers KB article for information on the HideUpgrade setting. The system administrator must upgrade the software on client PCs to the latest version if the HideUpgrade=True setting value was applied to client PCs. If this is the case, download the latest installer from My Account and install the new version on the client PCs. You do not need to reapply any license settings when performing an upgrade. All license settings are shared between versions.
